Title: Brotherly Love
Personal Significance: The significance of this caricature is that Rocky and his brother Richie are twins. Rocky was Navy and Richie is currently full-time Army National Guard. Growing up as twins was not always easy, and yes, there were arguments. There is still an ongoing disagreement as to the “better branch.” Regardless, there will always be “Brotherly Love.”

Title: The Joshua Tree
Personal Significance: Cast in the background of this painting, you will see the shadow of a Joshua Tree. Native to the deserts of Arizona, this tree-like yucca survives under the conditions of fierce heat and parched soil. As if its limbs are reaching to the sky in prayer, the Joshua tree symbolizes faith and hope in the midst of great adversity. This painting isn’t just about the girl.

Title: Untitled #3 (VW)
Original Medium: Oil on Canvas
Personal Significance: This painting is for all the unrecognized Vietnam Veterans…the ones that made it back, but didn’t receive medals. I had a strong feeling of support for the military during and after the Vietnam war, and I wore on my wrist a POW bracelet for a Naval Flight Officer all through the war until I saw him return home with other POWS. This brought me so much joy, and I’ve always felt a strong allegiance to our military and our country.
